Thanks for taking me back. I remember also slow dancing to “come sail away by Styx” there was always that awkward moment when the song transitioned from love ballad(slow dancing) to an anthemic rocker and you didn’t know how to participate with your dance partner anymore . I think I remember the girls backing off and the guys throwing fists into the air and jumping around a lot.

None of that mattered because soon The Clash changed everything with “Rock the Casbah” and “Should I stay or should I go.”

Soon dancing evolved or devolved into slam dancing and we’d just jump around bouncing of each other and the walls; pure chaos. We loved it!

Glad I was there for it.

Whatever gyrations I was doing, I was voted “best dancer” in our 30 kid class at St. Patrick’s.

It was a good time to be 13.

This was supposed to be Washington DC 2025 set in my middle school in 1981 or 2. I think I missed the mark and didn’t make that obvious. Being cryptic has always been a problem of mine. Oh well!
